Want to study in the USA but don’t have an F-1 visa yet?

Anybody who wants or needs to improve their English can study English. Students can choose to take private classes or enroll in a part time semi-intensive course or a full time intensive course. International students who have or require the F-1 Visa (F Status) must enroll in an intensive English course.

– After you have decided to study English in the United States, the first step is to choose the location that best fits your goals and lifestyle. Once you have selected one or more cities, contact several highly rated English language schools to compare your options. Be sure to verify that each school is SEVP-certified to enroll F-1 students and, if possible, accredited by a recognized accrediting agency. Take your time, ask plenty of questions, and choose the program that best meets your educational needs.
– If you plan to study on an F-1 visa, it is also important to understand the current immigration requirements, including maintaining your F-1 status and following all applicable federal regulations. Your school’s Designated School Official (DSO) can help answer questions about the enrollment process and maintaining your status while studying in the United States.

Yes. F-1 students may be eligible to transfer to another SEVP-certified school if they continue to meet all applicable immigration requirements.
Beginning September 15, 2026, students should work closely with the Designated School Officials (DSOs) at both schools before requesting a transfer. Students must maintain valid F-1 status throughout the transfer process and meet all applicable federal requirements.
